To the BBC,
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

No:  We’re not talking about the British Broadcasting Corporation. We’re talking about the Big Breakfast Cookout.

Yes: The Supper Club were at it again. This time, we try our hands at some of the more common breakfast foods (and some not so common ones too). The whole bunch of us got together on Friday night at FG’s to pay homage to the wonders of the most-important-meal-of-the-day. Yeah, you heard what I said; we had breakfast at dinner! Call the gastro-cops!!!

edit: thank you isabel / rebecca – breakfast at dinner is indeed brinner!

If the response from an out-of-town guest is anything to go by …

Singapore, end of Day Two. Attended epic cookout, ate more food than was thought humanly possible, drank incredible scotch and wine and now have to get up in 2 hours to get to the airport for my 7am flight. It’s been awesome, Singapore. Wish I’d had more time here, but it’s time to get home to the wife and puppy.

… then we know that here at thisishowweeat are on to something 🙂

While most of us stayed true to classic breakfast food, some of us got carried away and included some items that you would not normally see at the breakfast table. Here’s a rundown at the spread for the evening:

Left: KP’s Sammich bread & Cheese.
Right: FG’s Corned Beef & Hash.

Left: Our first oddity for a breakfast – FG’s cereal cookies. So good you had to eat more than one!
Right: KK’s Buttermilk pancakes with blueberries, made messy by KP’s artistic inclinations.

Left: KK’s wunder-scones.
Right: KK’s Buttermilk pancakes – sans blueberries / sans KP.

Left: SL’s middle-eastern breakfast oddity – Moroccan Tomato Stew with Chorizo sausage, served with Chinese Parsley & Spring Onion.
Right: KK’s Confused Poached Egg, lightly seasoned with a pinch of salt and pepper.

Left: Almost a full English breakfast. Mainly cos’ we had enough food to feed full English people 😛
Right: KP’s homemade yoghurt / fruits by Cass / art direction by KK.

Left: KP’s Focaccia – maintaining KP’s legacy as “meatloaf”
Right: Grilled beauties courtesy of the killer-griller, KC

Finally, much thanks goes to our gracious host (FG) and her family. We salute our unwitting guinea pigs! Additional thanks and apologies to KK – I (SL) forgot the portable stove! and the vinegar! Even more additional thanks to FG – for the use of your stove and vinegar.
